    Never has there been such a time of change for the UK property industry, and never has there been such a plethora of opportunities from both national and international perspectives. These changes, with a profound and far-reaching impact on the industry, will be analysed and debated in this year's conference, “UK Real Estate – The Next Chapter”.

  • Wednesday, 18 October

    Day 1: Setting the scene in the morning with a look at macroeconomic issues. Sessions will include a keynote speech from a leading economic commentator; the Government's agenda with its priorities and opportunities, and a look at The Next Chapter for the industry.

    Thursday, 19 October

    Day 2: The focus will be on issues involving investors, occupiers and innovation. This day will be dedicated to the exploration of the trends and stakes driving the UK market and the global economy, with sessions focused on Risk and Rewards, Residential Investment, Retail and Logistics, and Offices and Occupiers.

      • There is a chronic shortage of housing in the UK across all sectors: rental, affordable, first-time buyers, senior living and more. Sessions on this theme will look at the creative yet realistic options that can help solve the UK housing crisis:
        • The role of housing associations
        • Sector restraints such as Stamp Duty (the UK property tax), and how it can be replaced.
        • The future of PRS (Privated Rented Sector)
        • Opportunities arising from the Government’s planned £2.3 billion housing and infrastructure fund.

      • MIPIM UK sessions analyse the biggest issues affecting the retail sector.
        • New trends in the sector and the investment opportunities it presents.
        • The impact of consumers’ changing appetites in the retailer and logistics sectors.
        • Is there still value to be found in brick and mortar retail?

      • The Innovation & Proptech sessions explore the most innovative solutions and practices designed to increase the value of property assets, and feature a dedicated programme of conferences, pitching sessions, networking events and a demo area. These include:
        • The MIPIM UK Startup Competition. MIPIM UK will host the UK leg of the competition. The two others will be hosted in New York and Hong Kong. The most innovative startups that address real estate challenges and needs will compete for a place in the Finals at MIPIM Cannes in March.
        • The Hackathon. Hackers design an app or solution to solve specific industry problems, decided by the RE industry.
